FSASC Member Legislative Alert 4.10.17

April 10, 2017 – Last week the Florida Senate and House adopted two different solutions to the Workers’ Compensation premium increase. The House bill, HB 7085, includes numerous changes including a shift to a Medicare based fee system at the HOPD rate that includes language giving the Three Member Panel authority to regulate non-Medicare covered issues including implants, disposable medical devices and non-covered procedures.

FSASC Member Legislative Alert 3.31.17

March 31, 2017 – HB 145 by Representatives Renner (R) Palm Coast and Fitzenhagen (R) Ft. Myers passed the Florida House yesterday by a vote of 79 to 34 largely along party lines with Republicans supporting the measure and Democrats opposing the bill. On Wednesday the sponsors successfully defended an attempt by Representative Diamond (D) St. Petersburg to amend the bill to impose a health care tax on ASCs that kept patients beyond midnight.

March 24, 2017 – Much of this third week of Session was spent in educating legislators and staff about the difficulty and problems for injured workers that will result from a change to Medicare-based workers’ compensation reimbursement proposed by the House. Medicaid FFS Claims moving to EAPG

Florida Medicaid is changing its reimbursement methodology for fee-for-service Medicaid to a bundled payment methodology developed by 3M known as Enhanced Ambulatory Patient Grouping (EAPG). This change will be effective for dates of service beginning July 1, 2017.
