FSASC Pursues Workers’ Compensation Protection in Court

10/13/2017 - FSASC appeared in court this week during the trial over the Workers’ Compensation Dispute Resolution rule challenge that it filed on behalf on the membership. FSASC has alleged that the rule proposed by the Division of Workers’ Compensation governing the Dispute Resolution process conflicts with the Florida Statutes and should not be allowed to go into force.

New AHCA Incident Reporting System is Live

Below is the notice that was sent by AHCA. As of June 28, 2017, ASCs are required to use this new system when submitting adverse incident reports. To access the system and the user registration guide, visit the AHCA’s Office of Risk Management and Patient Safety website.

FSASC Pursues Workers’ Compensation Rule Challenge

June 20, 2017 - Over 230 ASCs in Florida receive reimbursement for Workers’ Compensation cases. Under a new rule adopted by the Florida Division of Workers’ Compensation, getting paid correctly will become much harder. The obstacles placed by the new rule are so great that FSASC has sued the Department to block the rule from going into effect.

FSASC Update: HB 1253, Patients Rights and Responsibilities

As you may have read in FSASC Legislative Updates, the Legislature passed HB 1253, expanding patients’ rights. HB 1253 adds a new right to the Patient’s Bill of Rights and Responsibilities which makes it clear that a patient has a right to be accompanied not only by a family member, but by any person of the patient’s choosing during their episode of care.

FSASC Member Legislative Alert 5.1.17

May 1, 2017 – This week is the final week of the regularly scheduled 2017 Legislative Session. Most of the thousands of bill that were filed will not make it to the end of the session because they remain unheard in committees in the House and Senate. The final days will be devoted to budget, tax and significant policy issues as identified by the House Speaker and Senate President.
