Who do you contact with questions about Medicare claims?

First Coast Service Options provides claims processing, customer service, education and training and activities that ensure the appropriateness of Medicare benefit payments for Medicare Part B providers in Florida.  To contact their customer service line, call (877) 847-4992 or view their website at www.fcso.com.

Where can I find a list of procedures that are covered by the Medicare Program?

The US Department of Health, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services issues the list of procedure codes which may be performed in an ASC under the Medicare program as well as the ASC payment group assigned to each of the procedure codes.  To learn more about these procedures and proposed changes, visit the ASC Association web site at www.ascassociation.org/home.

What accreditation is accepted in Florida in lieu of annual licensing surveys?

Ambulatory Surgical Centers accredited by JCAHO or AAAHC are exempt from annual licensing surveys as indicated in section 59A-5.004(2), F.A.C. License validation surveys are conducted each year by AHCA on a minimum of five percent of the facilities that have received accreditation. What Agency oversees the initial licensure of an ASC?

Who oversees the licensure of ambulatory surgical centers in Florida?

The Agency for Health Care Administration has a section of their website that lists the different regulations for licensure of an ASC.  Go to https://ahca.myflorida.com/MCHQ/Health_Facility_Regulation/Hospital_Outpatient/ambulatory.shtml.

To locate a complete listing of ASCs in the state, visit AHCA’s online facility locator and search the AHCA’s records for licensed ambulatory surgical centers by clicking here.  Select “Ambulatory Surgical Center” as facility type and search by name, zip code, city or county.
